Today was an amazing ride from Taos to Pagosa Springs then on to Durango. The weather was perfect and the crazy wind gust finally settled down.
We got an early start as we walked to Michael’s for breakfast only to discover its closed on Tuesday’s. Major bummer, but that’s ok…..Also Randy on the phone still running Tri-Tex Grass 😄.

So we had to make a stop at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Really a cool place and neat to see. It’s hard to tell in the picture just how deep this thing is.

As we rode through the mountains we landed on this spot. It’s crazy and surreal how quite it is out here. Also the temperature dropped so we stopped to put on more gear 🥶

After some 30 miles of twisties (a lot of fun) through San Juan National Forrest we stopped to gas up at the “best gas station” ever. Not Buc-ee’s cool….but a nice old school place. This is where we were warned about the bears. Apparently they are know to randomly cross the road 😬.

While at the old school Buc-ees Randy met a new friend. Not sure his name, but he was definitely a talker……Nice guy though and always good to be social. Randy says you can always learn something from people.

We then rode on to Pagosa Springs and ate at a really cool Mexican restaurant. This was our view from the patio. It was a lot of fun……Across the way are the hot springs. Someday I want to try them out.

No motorcycle trip comes without adversity. Apparently the bolt that holds my seat in place rattled loose. So a quick repair to make sure my seat doesn’t fall off while riding more twisties on the million dollar highway tomorrow. Gotter all fixed up.

Finally we arrived in Durango and checked in to the luxury motel Days Inn. Not sure what happened to the sign, but hopefully this place is ok. A little sketch…no biggie though.

Time to end the day with some good beers and food from Carver’s. Definitely recommend this place, however our Uber driver to get here was a little weird. Who knew there are 10,000 different types of mushrooms? Apparently she sells them. To much information for me. Just sayin….

In the spirit of continuing the #culturedad movement Dad ordered black beans. As you can see below the bean presentation doesn’t really lend itself to trying them. Dad was out on this one and I can’t really blame him. We tried…

Stayed tuned for tomorrow as we take the million dollar highway. Should be a lot of fun.
