Day 4!!!

Today was a great riding day. Not many miles but a lot of fun.

The day began with a 5 star breakfast at the Quality Inn πŸ™„. Gourmet stale toast was the special.

It was 52 degrees when we left out for Taos. We rode through San Juan National Forrest and it was picturesque.

Next we made our way down to Carson National Forrest. This part of the ride was very tricky as a massive storm system came through. We literally stopped on the side of the mountain so dad could figure out our plan. Somehow he brilliantly maneuvered us for hours down the mountain. Dad nicknamed himself “Howard Taft” πŸ™„ after the well known Dallas meteorologist. I know I know …..

We continued on down making multiple stops on the side of the mountain….did a bunch of twisty roads and a few Gatorade breaks. Some of the twisty roads were a little scary as the road was wet, but we made it. Well kind of….coming out of the National Forrest a deer decided to surprise visit us. Luckily Dad saw it coming and we avoided having to bring back deer meat.

We then stopped at the “Gorge” and it was really cool.

Sorry my pictures do not do it justice. It’s very cool.

We finally made it to Taos. Hot, tired, hungry and ready for a break. So where did we go …..

I guess everyone’s says you have to eat at Michaels. So that’s where we landed. The food was good, but I was little worried about dad after ordering….

We still had another 140 miles to to next stop. Good luck old man. πŸ˜‚

After finishing our late lunch we got back on the road. About 15 miles outside of town we quickly realized the rain was back and we were about to get poured on. So we pulled off and “Mr. Taft” went to work. Meantime a crazy driver coming from the opposite direction decided to pass a dump truck right beside us. I had a few choice words for that idiot🀬.

We then spent the next few hours making our way to Vegas. I know right Las Vegas, NM. Unfortunately I was disappointed with no casinos or cool shows in sight. So we settled for the next best thing….

Yep you guessed correctly ice cream at DQ. What better to do in Vegas than visit DQ.

After finishing up Mr Taft alerted me about our weather situation. So we decided to stay in Vegas and watch America’s Got Talent. πŸ€”

Tomorrow we are headed Lubbock….πŸ’€
