Today was a short 100 mile ride as a big storm rolled through. The nice thing….it was much cooler and the ride was great.
We stopped in Broken Bow and had a good breakfast at Beaver Bend. Apparently every restaurant here is closed on Monday except this one.

Next stop was the Beaver Bend Lodge. We had to get checked in early before the storm started. Pretty cool place over looking the lake.

Now comes the fun part. So let me set up this picture for you. It just finished raining, the bikes are soaking wet, it’s steamy hot and we are 5 miles from any place to eat. Clearly the obvious decision is to go on a 5 mile hike into to town. It was great…..well at least I thought so.

Dad was a trooper and hung in there. I promised him there is a really cool brewery at the end of the trail. #culturedad. So we walked and we walked. Took us a whopping hour but it was a good time.

Finally we arrive and it was time to have a cold beer and good food. The sign looks promising……

Well this is where we confirmed everything is closed on Mondays. Lol…..5 miles on foot and it’s closed. You can imagine the look I got. I have to admit I laughed a little bit.

Lucky for us a small pizza place was open across the street. So the party was back on.

After dinner and beers we hiked the 5 miles back and dad was out for the night. It was a fun day 2 and we have literally gone only 200 miles on this trip.
Stay tuned!!!!

Of course we started the ride going through Weatherford as that’s where all trips start (inside family joke). It was the hotter than hell sprint to Amarillo. You can see I got a little sun burned. The sun block I used was garbage.
So tired from the heat and wind. Dad and I were chugging Gatorade and water. We decided last minute to not go to Lubbock. Instead we had steak in Amarillo with a few beers
